Papua New Guinea to Indonesia

Logistics from Papua New Guinea have changed since the world shut down because of the global pandemic.  Before the pandemic, tons of green vanilla beans passed through the porous border between Papua New Guinea on its way to Indonesia.

With the border between these two island countries closed, freshly harvested green vanilla from Papua New Guinea is now flown to Indonesia, where it is dried, cured, and then shipped to Europe, Asia, and the United States.

Large black bags of green vanilla are being rolled out and loaded onto the small jet.

Vanilla beans are being dried on tables.
